Below is the statement he released...  My attention has been drawn to various campaigns on-going online about the upcoming election in Edo State later this year. The campaign mainly by young people (youths) and students from Edo State and my local government, is that I should vie for the position of Deputy Governor in the state. This is based on the premise that since the party zoned deputy governorship slot to Edo Central where I am originally from, I should represent various interests in the area. This is a gesture I appreciate; it is a good thing for people to recognise your good work and want you to serve especially when one has been supportive without being in government. I want to make it clear that the position of deputy governorship is not a position one campaigns for, the party leaders alongside members chose who flies the party’s ticket alongside the governorship candidate. However, I am available to serve in whatever capacity the party wants me to serve....

Nigerians queuing for kerosene The Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, has increased the price of Household Kerosene from N50 to N83. This is contained in its products pricing template, released on Sunday in Abuja. The agency stated that the N83 per litre price applied only to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, outlets. The template also showed that at N83, the Federal Government will be making a gain of N10.72 on every litre. It further puts the expected open market price, which is the landing cost plus total margins at N72.28 per litre. The expected open market price is the prevailing open market rate for the product in Nigeria, after taking certain costs into consideration. Giving a breakdown of the price, the PPPRA template put the landing cost of ‎the product at N57.98 per litre, while the total margin due‎ middlemen was put at N14.30. Justice Baba Yusuf of the Federal High Court, Abuja today Friday Jan. 22nd adjourned the trial of the former National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki till February 4. The counsel to the EFCC, Rotimi Jacobs, told Justice Yusuf on Friday that an application had earlier been made by Mr. Dasuki through his clients for stay of proceedings in court.     He said his client was of the view that the application should be refused. He noted that the Administration of Criminal Justice Act stipulates that such cases be heard daily, and argued that while the judge could hear a motion from the defendants, as the case progresses, a prayer for stay of proceedings should not be allowed. Mr. Dasuki’s counsel, Joseph Daudu, countered that the details in the said application should be strongly evaluated, as it contained an abuse of the rules of court. The Borno Elders Forum has alleged that all those that have been accused of misappropriating $2.1 billion arms fund are the real sponsors of Boko Haram. The group made the allegation in a statement signed by their chairman, Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and released yesterday Jan. 21st.The statement  reads in part;  “Much has been said about the sponsors of Boko Haram. 22-year-old pregnant housewife, Aisha Abdullahi, pictured above, was found raped and murdered at her home in Kano yesterday January 20th.   According to Sahara reporters, sources at the Kano state police command say the husband, Abdullahi Mohammed, came back from an outing and met his wife defiled and in a pool of her own blood.  The state Police spokesperson, DSP Musa Magaji Majia, while confirming the incident, said a full scaled investigation has been launched by the police.  It will be recalled that two weeks ago two men were charged in a Kano Court for the murder of a housewife. Another case of a murdered housewife was reported in Ungogo Local Government Area (LGA) of Kano State in December of last year as well.  The deceased, who was known to be pregnant, was found in a pool of blood when her husband returned home and discovered her body.

Described as a ‘dangerous, calculating and predatory rapist’ who created the image he was the ‘pillar of the community’ by helping out at the church.  Baiyewu who resides in Fairlawn in Greenwich, first grabbed a 17-year-old girl at knife point on December 2nd, but she managed to break free and escaped.   A week later, in the same area of Binsey Walk, Thamesmead, he grabbed another victim, also 17, as she got off the bus at 7pm. He put a knife to her throat and threatened to kill her before marching her into a bin storage area under a walkway. He then raped her in a secluded area. He was tracked down after DNA on the semen found on the young lady was linked to him. He was arrested on December 16, and was placed on an identity parade...

PDP governors have asked the security and antigraft agents to be mindful of how they carry out instructions from the APC-led government as they will not be in power forever. In a statement sent of today by their coordinator Osaro Onaiwu, the governors from the main opposition party, condemned the handcuffing of its National Publicity Secretary Olisa Metuh to the Federal High Court yesterday and today. Police detectives attached to Ogijo Division of Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday arrested two suspected pipeline vandals at Agbowa area in Ogijo, Sagamu local government area of Ogun state, PM News reports.  The suspects identified as Olamilekan Omoga and Musiliu Atowu were arrested with a Vago bus with 44 (forty four) 50 litres jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS.  According to a statement released on Thursday, January 21 by the State Police spokesman, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operation, which was led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ogijo Division, acted on a tip off that some vandals were operating in the area and were able to arrest them.  The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abdulmajid Ali has directed that other members of the gang be apprehended without delay and thorough investigation be carried out on the case.  Ali, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police and second-in-command in the Ogun State Police Com...
