SAD: Man drowns after he was allegedly chased into a river by police officers in Delta

A yet to be identified man has drowned after he was allegedly chased to his death by some police officers in the Ubeji/ Egbokodo Itsekiri Community both in Warri South local government area of Delta state.

 

According to posts on X, the officers who are of the Operation Delta Hawk, chased the deceased into a nearby River ( lake ) at Deeper life road waterside.

Reacting to the report on X, the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said no one has received any information about the deceased man. He called on the family of the deceased to come forward to report the case to assist the police. 

‘’Pls while we are investigating, To this moment, we have not received any information from anybody on d identity of the victim and what happened apart from the post on Twitter. Anyone who can assist should pls go to Ubeji police post or A division warri. Especially fr his family''

Police detectives attached to Ogijo Division of Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday arrested two suspected pipeline vandals at Agbowa area in Ogijo, Sagamu local government area of Ogun state, PM News reports.  The suspects identified as Olamilekan Omoga and Musiliu Atowu were arrested with a Vago bus with 44 (forty four) 50 litres jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS.  According to a statement released on Thursday, January 21 by the State Police spokesman, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operation, which was led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO in charge of Ogijo Division, acted on a tip off that some vandals were operating in the area and were able to arrest them.  The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abdulmajid Ali has directed that other members of the gang be apprehended without delay and thorough investigation be carried out on the case.  Ali, who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police and second-in-command in the Ogun State Police Com...
